We are often inspired by the colour combinations and forms that we find in paintings, and the work of London-based artist Brian Sayers was a huge inspiration for this elegant living/kitchen/dining space that we recently completed in South Kensington. In these photographs his painting, entitled ‘Painting’, hangs above the fireplace and the furnishing scheme echoes its restful combination of duck-egg and petrol blue, with a streak of acid yellow to lift the spirits.

Brian Sayers is represented by the Long & Ryle gallery, you can see more of his work on their website: Long and Ryle

We have always created one-off pieces of furniture for our clients and recently it occurred to us that some of these have been so successful that they deserve a wider audience. So this summer we’re launching the first piece in what we hope will be a growing collection of our own exclusive furniture designs for you to order.

Our sparkly side tables made using vintage mirrors are ideal for adding a unique touch to any interior, small and neat and ever so glamorous each table is a one-off because no two mirrors are alike. In the 30s and 40s these frameless mirrors, many with hand-cut bevels or etched flower motifs, were hung with a chain from every self respecting picture rail the length of the land. Now they are mainly found languishing in carboot sales and flea markets – we thought there must be a better use for these pretty mirrors and the sparkly side table was born!

How to order:

We carry a certain amount of stock of finished tables or they are available to order using mirrors that we currently have in our collection – which you can choose from. The tables cost £380 inc VAT and carriage. Please call us on 020 8969 7001 for orders or further information.

The table top is made from plywood with turned hardwood legs – both stained dark and finished with a satin sealant.

Dimensions as follows:

Height: 500mm

Table tops are in the region of 450mm across but please ask us for specific details of current stock.

Our clients bought this new chalet in a small village in the French Alps ‘off-plan’, and quickly enlisted our help to give the interior much-needed warmth and personality. We put together schemes using simple block printed fabrics and bold colours to fit with the relaxed holiday spirit of the house. The quirky mix of furniture and accessories, largely sourced from antiques and flea markets, has given the chalet a unique identity and bags of style.

The chalet, ‘La Boite qui Brille’, is available to rent for winter skiing or summer walking holidays, check out their fabulous website here
